New Year, New Beginnings

Worship in English in the heart of Florence.
Hello, if you are just moving in to Florence for the new semester, or you're here seeking or starting work, or you are simply travelling through, come and join us on Tuesday evenings (7-9pm).

We are a new church, (started September 2010) sponsored by the Methodist Churches of Britian and Italy, but our members come from a huge range of church backgrounds. We are bound together by our faith in Christ, and the fact that we speak English.

Our worship is always relaxed, usually modern and often participative. Worship may be lead by Alison Walker (the minister of the main Italian church and this fellowship church) or members of the church. We have a worship planning & rehearsal meeting on Fridays at 4pm, and then a worship run through on Tuesdays at 6pm. The group is largely musicians/singers but we also draw on the skills of our members in art, drama, reading.

THIS WEEK: "New Year, New Beginnings" - we meet at 7pm for 'a drink and a nibble', normally soft drinks, crisps, bread with something. We aim to finish the evening by 9pm, although like any church we will probably still be chatting until the lights get turned out!

Worship 16 November

We're going to be trying out an interactive Bible study on Tuesday night. You don't need to prepare anything, just bring your imagination. If the words "interactive" and "imagination" are making you change your mind about coming, then there will be an alternative (in addition to politely saying 'no thank you!)

Tuesday 7-9pm International English Language Worship in the heart of Florence.

I'm also wondering, when is the last Tuesday before term ends? perhaps we could go out for pizza afterwards?

Feedback please

Dear everyone,
I'm writing the reports for the annual church assemble (of the methodist church, via de' benci) and need to include something about the english language service.

it would be great to be able to include some initial responses from the lovely people who have partecipated! If you would like to, please post some comments here so that I can include "eyewitness statements" for the assembly, as that will be far more exciting.
Thank you! Alison

2 November: remembering

Our worship on 2nd November will take up the theme of remembering. You may or may not like the parties that are now traditional on 31st October, but All Souls Day (1st November) and All Saints Day (2nd November) give us time to reflect on those friends and family members who have died, to remember those who have taught us the faith, and perhaps to ask ourselves what legacy will we leave?

Worship planning/preparation is happening Friday 29th October, 3pm at the Church.

When prayer and justice go unanswered

Hello everyone,

better late than never, just to remind you that we are meeting tonight at our usual time of 7pm, to start worship around 7:30pm. Robin is in the UK this week so all the music will be provided by Mark Schultz and Mark Gorman (welcome Mark!).

The text is Luke 18 – the widow and the judge. We will be talking about justice and prayer, unanswered justice and unanswered prayer. As the Italians say “ti aspettiamo numersosi” “we expect to see lots of you!”

See you soon (unless you are on a mid-term trip, in which case enjoy yourselves!)

Alison
